The powerful speaker of Iran's parliament warned Wednesday that his nation could take drastic steps in response to economic, political and military pressure meant to halt controversial parts of its nuclear program.

Ali Larijani, the speaker of Iran's parliament and a former nuclear negotiator, said there was "only a little time left" for talks before Iran would make unspecified moves that the West would regret.

That sounds like a clear-and-present threat. Bring it on.

In other words, Iran is saying:

“We don’t have nukes. We are not trying to attain nukes. But, if you don’t leave us alone, we’re going to nuke you.”

The term “unspecified moves” does sound interesting.

“The term “unspecified moves” does sound interesting.”

Here's some interesting scenarios given by a Middle East expert. None of them are good for the Israelis. The fundamental problem for the Israels is that the extreme range for their F-15’s and F-16’s with drop tanks is about 1,000 miles. However, they will need to fly about 1,200 miles to so to strike most of Iran's nuclear facilities. While Israel does have some limited air refuel capability, with the exception of the Iraq route, it would have to be utilized over hostile air space. Anyway, suggest you read this article as the various options are well defined. http://francona.blogspot.com/2006/03/iran-israels-air-strike-options.html

My dad called it ‘hummin’-gator’, when your alligator mouth overloads your hummingbird ass.

They would be funny, like a Monty Python skit or something, if the stakes weren't so very high.

One thing about them though, as long as they are running their mouths they're historically pretty harmless. It must be an Arab pride thing.

Iran wants more "talks" to stall for time until B. Hussein Obama is in the White House. The Demonrats will echo Iran's line that the U.S. was to blame for military action when diplomacy would have settled things. Obama's rhetoric is just an echo of that from Iran:

"The United States has to realize that they cannot resolve all their problems through aggression and force," Khatami said at a conference in Oslo promoting dialogue between the Islamic world and the West.

Although they have been talking like this for a while, the fact that with the elections coming, Israel is unlikely to look to the US for support by the new administration.
